This embroidered wool wall tapestry is done in a technique called “klostersøm” – translated to “monastery stitch” – where the stiches are straight up and down in rows. You can zoom in on the photo to see the hand stitching.
While the pattern is traditional, the colors are more contemporary and subdued in light browns, pinks, light greens and tan tones. The color scheme will look wonderful on today’s more modern wall colors.
The tapestry is backed with canvas and mounted on a hammered wrought iron hanger with Norwegian-style swirls, ready to hang on your wall. While we don’t know how old it is, it’s in great shape, with no odors or stains.
It weighs around 38oz and measures 37.25″ tall including the hanger, and 23.5″ wide.
