Shabby chic style! Woolen hand embroidered bell pull in a classic Norwegian pattern with hammered wrought iron hanger, ready to hang on your wall. The colors are gorgeous in a deep red, orange, white, green and blue tones, all against a dark brown background. The stitching is very well done, neat and tidy. The backing is in good shape, and yellowed a little by age but otherwise fine. We see no raveling or tears.
Originally, the “klokkestreng” was used as a pull to ring the steeple bells and also in larger manor homes to ring a bell to summon the servants. As the call systems in homes were updated, the now obsolete bell pulls have become decorative objects.
The bell measures approx 30″ tall including the hanger, and 6.75″ wide. The embroidery piece itself is just over 25″ tall. It weighs just under 16oz. We’re guessing it’s from the 70’s.
