Hand Stitched Woolen Bell Pull
$42.00 Original price was: $42.00.$35.00Current price is: $35.00.
Great-grandmother Ragnhild Hoelsæther embroidered this exact same pattern and it hung in her entrance for as long as we remember! This is a classic Norwegian pattern for bell pulls with a medieval look to it. Colors are red, blue, white, yellow and green. The embroidery is mounted on a wrought iron hanger ready to display on your wall. We are guessing it’s from the 70’s and it’s in great shape with no stains, tears or unraveling.
Originally, the “klokkestreng” was used as a pull to ring the steeple bells and also in larger manor homes to ring a bell to summon the servants. As the call systems in homes were updated, the now obsolete bell pulls have become decorative objects.
The bell measures approx 36″ tall including the hanger, and 7.5″ wide. The embroidery piece itself is 31″ tall. It weighs just 11.5oz. We’re guessing it’s from the 70’s.
