Woolen hand embroidered bell pull with hammered wrought iron hanger on the top and bottom – ready to hang on your wall. The colors are red, black, blue and gold against a green background. The stitching is very well done, neat and tidy. The backing is in good shape, and we see no raveling or tears.
Originally, bell pulls or “klokkestreng” as they are called in Norway were used as a pull to ring the steeple bells and also in larger manor homes to ring a bell to summon the servants. As the call systems in homes were updated, the now obsolete bell pulls have become decorative objects.
This is a long bell pull, measuring approx 45″ tall including the hangers, and 7.5″ wide. The embroidery piece itself is 38″ tall. It weighs around 15.5oz. We’re guessing it’s from the 70’s.
