This is a lovely hand-stitched wall tapestry in rich, deep colors. In red and orange, brown and green tones, the piece is well done in the strong Norwegian tradition of embroidery. That tapestry includes a wrought iron hanger at the top and fringes as the bottom. The piece is back with black canvas. With a strong Viking influence, this tapestry is ready to hang on your wall.
This embroidered wool wall tapestry is done in a technique called “klostersøm” – translated to “monastery stitch” – where the stiches are straight up and down in rows. You can zoom in on the photo to see the hand stitching.
The tapestry is 15″ wide and 22″ tall not including the hanger and fringe. The hanger is 4.5″ tall and the fringe is 3″ tall making the piece 22.5″ tall in total.
The tapestry is in great shape with no stains or odors.
