This is a very large, wooden Rosemaling platter signed by the artist in 1989. There are a few scratch marks in the paint on one area – please see photo – but otherwise we see no defects.
The Rosemaling style is Telemark which is identifiable by it’s C- and S-scrolls and fanciful flowers. The colors are all natural browns, beiges and greens with accents in browns, blacks and reds. The artist, Eva, is obviously a skilled Rosemaling painter; the work is strong and confident.
There is a hook in the back for wall mounting. Or, set the platter on your dining room table flanked by some candles and you’ll get lots of compliments from your guests. Remember, these wooden plates are for decoration only so don’t put food on them – they are too delicate for that!
The platter is just over 15″ wide and stands 1″ tall. It weighs 2lbs 3oz.
