Sometimes items suffer damage on their way from Norway to Florida. This is the case with this wooden Rosemaling bowl. There’s a crack running down the side of the bowl but no further. We’ve repaired it but the crack is still slightly visible if you look for it. Please see the photo of the repaired crack.
This is a cheerful wooden Rosemaling bowl with lovely colors and a charming shape. The Rosemaling style is Hallingdal which features a central flower with symmetrical designs flowing out from it. Hallingdal has minimal shading, and light and dark line work.
The bowl is painted with the traditional Rosemaling red, and decorations are in tans, orange, blue and green tones. Accents are in black and white. Gold colored decorations are painted around the outer rim of the bowl. The artist is obviously skilled and confident.
The bowl measures 7.75″ in diameter and stands just over 2.5″ tall. It weighs 10 ounces. There is some wear on the black rim around the top of the bowl.
