With a background of the typical Norwegian red, this is a rosemaling plate done in the Telemark style which features a central flower with the design emanating from it. Typical of the Telemark style are the C- and S- scrolls. Flower colors include browns and tans, oranges and creams with accents in black including the pattern around the edge of the plate.
While the piece doesn’t indicate the artist, the back says, “Hand made in Norway 121”. The piece has a couple of very small anomalies in the wood underneath the paint but otherwise it’s in great shape.
The plate is 10″ across and stands 1.25″ tall. It weighs just under 15oz.
