Just under 8.5″ in diameter, this wooden Rosemaling plate is expertly hand-painted in subdued, elegant colors. The outer rim is brushed with gold, then a ring of maroon, then the inner color of a beautiful royal blue. The center flower is in reds, cream and green tones with accents in cream. The Rosemaling style is a simple Hallingdal pattern where the design emanates from a central flower. The paint is applied in a way to allow the woodgrain to shine through.
The piece is initialized by the artist, IA. There’s no indication of the date but we assume it’s from the 70’s or 80’s. There is a spot on the blue rim where the paint is worn away a little, but this is to be expected from an older piece and just adds character, we think! See the close-up photo.
A hanging fastener is attached to the back, ready to hang the plate on your wall.
