An Os style Rosemaling, this wooden shallow bowl displays a skilled artist’s bold strokes and unfailing symmetry. Per the Os style, flowers are abstracted with heavy line-work for veins and less dimensional shading.
The colors are harmonious with browns, tans, greens and cream with black detailing. The upper edge is in green and the base is in the traditional Norwegian rust red.
The artist has signed the piece with McN and ’78.
There are a few small signs of wear but that is to be expected on a wooden bowl that is 44 years old. The back shows the marks from the carpenter’s wood turning.
The shallow bowl is 12″ in diameter and stands 1.75″ tall. It weighs just under 1lb.
